Insects

Q. I’ve read some reviews that make me worry about insects in the room, please could you let me know how true these reviews are.

A. 2010 was the wettest year in 20 years in Bali, because of this we had an unusual amount of flying creatures around. Thankfully things have got back to normal, we have also made ant barriers around certain bungalows which had a lot of ant activity, so if you have an ant phobia this will not be a problem.

Please remember that the appearance of moths, geckos and frogs is normal in a living diverse system. As an Eco lodge we aim to educate... so that irrational fears of creatures may turn to a love and respect for those sharing the planet with us. Insects indicate a living diverse ecosystem.

Q. What creatures might I encounter @ the lodge

A. Butterflies, Moths, Geckos, Skinks, Bee's, native frogs, harmless spiders & ants

Bali Eco Stay

Q.Whats the story on Bali Eco Stay?

A. We met John & Cath in Australia, while both families were on camper vaning holidays. After a trip to the lodge by John, Cath & Huey, we all sat down and came up with a plan for John & Cath to replicate our model at the lodge - To create their own "Eco" project in Bali, as we were often fully booked at the lodge.

Both Norm and I were employed as consultants for the BES project from start to finish ( 10 months!). Norm designed the buildings & permaculture gardens, while Linda worked on the interiors, managment, activities and promotions.

This was a dream project for us, to show case our sustainable design and project management expertise.

Thanks John & Cath for saying "Yes!" and for taking on a personal  learning curve to support sustainable tourism in Bali.
